For Black British women working in advertising, communications, marketing and media finding spaces that uplift, connect, and inspire is essential. These groups provide mentorship, opportunities, and a sense of belonging in industries that have historically lacked diversity at all levels. At Join Our Table, our theme for the year is Collective Action, which coincidentally aligns with the International Women’s Day theme of Accelerating Action. We’re committed to celebrating and heightening the visibility of organisations that champion Black women, foster professional growth and create meaningful change. Here are some of the incredible communities making an impact:
Black Leaders in TV
Representation behind the scenes is just as crucial as what we see on screen. Black Leaders in TV is a community that supports Black professionals in television, ensuring that Black women in media have access to leadership roles and opportunities to shape the industry’s future.
BWIM
This community fosters career development, mentorship, and networking for Black women working in all facets of marketing, ensuring they have the support and resources needed to thrive.
It Takes a Village Collective It Takes a Village Collective is a global hub for Black women in advertising, media, marketing and communications. The collective’s mission is to celebrate and champion Black women, for their talents to be seen, heard and amplified, and together shape the collective industries into a space where they can have agency and succeed.
Lollipop Mentoring
Success often begins with mentorship, and Lollipop Mentoring provides just that. Focused on supporting mid-level Black women, a dedicated mentoring community for Black women in the marketing and advertising industries. Focused on empowering, connecting, and uplifting through meaningful mentorship, networking, and shared guidance.
Precious Online
For over 20 years, Precious Online has been at the forefront of championing Black women in business and leadership. Through their awards, networking events, and content, they provide a platform to elevate and celebrate Black women’s achievements across industries, including marketing and media.
The Ladder Club
Breaking into the industry is one thing—climbing the ladder is another. The Ladder Club supports Black women in business to reach senior leadership roles.
TwoPointZero
Navigating a career in media and marketing can be overwhelming, but TwoPointZero offers a structured approach. They provide career coaching and professional development programs, helping Black women and other underrepresented groups find clarity and confidence in their professional journeys.
UK Black Comms Network
A network dedicated to supporting Black professionals in public relations, communications, and corporate affairs, https://blackcommsnetwork.co.uk/ is all about visibility and career advancement. They provide invaluable networking opportunities, workshops, and resources to help Black professionals navigate and excel in the industry.
