BHM it started with us and now its over to YOU!
We kicked off this years BHM with our JOT Soiree, an evening of good food, better conversation, and a room full of Black women. And boy did it deliver! For us It felt like the right way to start Black History Month. Not with a lecture on why representation matters, but by actually practising it, in a room, together.
But one evening, hosted by one community, was never going to be enough. Black History Month in our industry is bigger than any single organisation's calendar, and for years, the events worth knowing about have lived in silos: brilliant, but scattered, easy to miss if you weren't already plugged into the right network.
That's the gap Uplifting Our Communities is built to close.
This year, Join Our Table has joined six other Black-led communities across advertising, media, marketing and the wider creative industries to build one shared calendar: a single place to find every Black History Month event happening across our sector, hosted by the people and organisations already doing this work, often unpaid, and often without the recognition it deserves.
We're supporting it because we believe the opposite of visibility isn't invisibility, it's fragmentation. Seven communities working apart, each reaching a fraction of the people who'd benefit from knowing what's on, achieves far less than seven communities working from one shared table.
So consider this an invitation, not just to browse what's on, but to add to it. If you're curating a Black History Month event for people in media, marketing or advertising this month, we want it on the calendar. The more complete this picture is, the more useful it becomes, for attendees looking for somewhere to show up, and for organisers who've been doing this work quietly for years.
