THE SHAKE UP WAS BACK

Updated: Apr 5

We were back at Advertising week Europe 2025, creating a space for Black Women and shaking things up with candid conversations. With everything we do we brought visibility to to our community ensuring our members had the opportunity to be guests on stage with us.

Three fireside chats and a Q&A in 45 minutes not an easy thing to do. But we love a challenge and we delivered. Hosted by co-founder Samantha Lewis, she set a great tone for what was to come, highlighting the work on our Media Leader collaboration '50 Game Changing Black women in media'.

The nuggets came thick and fast. The first chat was with co-founder Annika Allen Gray and community member  Kianna Briggs  'Challenging the Impact of the sunsetting brigade on DEI'. The key theme was you 'they' could change the language drop the term inclusive it wouldn't matter, work with the people that were really serious about doing the work.

The second was with co-founder  Geraldine Anyanwu and community member Evelyn Oluwole talking all things 'Black women and equity. Evelyn slayed when she said " Black women need to stop being seen as the wild card, and that we were good for business"

The final talk was with co-founder Collette Philip and community member Nnenna Hemeson  galvanising us with talk of 'Collective Action'. Their key nugget was that individual acton wouldn't change things alone we had to work together as a community and with allies to drive a societal shift. But also the the importance of not feeling the weight of carrying the burden alone.

Each year our support from Advertising week and our community gets bigger and bigger. The session was a vibe, standing room only and really did deliver on our mission to see Black women represented on all stages.

Same time next year.
